Engineering at Nestlé through the eyes of a placement student

Working at Nestlé is a great experience and opportunity to work in a team environment for the leading food manufacturer in the world. It is a hands on role where you will be straight in taking on projects and tasks that 3 months down the line you would never have realised you were capable of.

On arrival I was warmly welcomed into my team and found myself suddenly taking on a large responsibility, running projects and getting deeply involved in team meetings and decisions that needed to be made on a day-to-day basis to help Nestlé reach its high expectations that it sets. I have been working in a small project team where I have already been involved in some major changes developing new processes and techniques to improve the factory.

Personally, I also find the flexitime system great as it gives you the opportunity to be flexible with your work hours as well as catering for Nestlé's needs as well. Outside of work, Nestlé continually offer a range of activities to get everyone involved such as, charity events, 5 a side football matches and sponsored walks.

Taking a placement has given me an insight into what it is like working in industry, meeting new people and the ability to understand the complexity at every stage through the production process. I feel I have learnt skills that I would never have gained in the lecture theatre and the ability to apply what I have already learnt into real life situations.
