Technical Skills
Essential:
Good understanding of:
- IP networks and serial data communications
- PC/Server hardware architectures and operating systems (e.g. Microsoft Windows and Linux)
Desirable:
- Practical experience
- Hardware engineering concepts (e.g. lifecycles and methodologies)
- Clear communication of technical issues.
- Methodical approach to problem solving
- PC skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Visio (or similar drawing packages)
- Minimum Educational Requirements
- Degree in an electronics engineering, information technology or closely related discipline.
Job Content
- To undertake hardware engineering tasks within a project team including the design of subsystems or systems based around commercial off the shelf products
- To undertake the design, configuration and test of subsystems and systems
- To generate and review hardware design and test documentation
- To undertake hardware engineering tasks to a high quality
- To work within a multidisciplinary team assigned to a Project/Programme Manager to achieve all project goals
- To achieve tasks on time and within the allocated cost
- To contribute to Improvement activities, which improve efficiency, reduce lead-time and raise quality within the assigned project
- To regularly take part in communication exercises to receive company information and discuss local issues
- To provide regular reporting of status and problems to the Project//Programme Manager, Team or Engineering Manager as appropriate
- To ensure compliance with the appropriate legal, security, quality, safety and environmental procedures, standards and regulations
