npower

Npower provides gas, electricity and related services to around 6.6 million business and residential customer accounts. The company operates one of the largest portfolios of power generating plants in the UK, which includes operating and managing flexible, low-cost coal, oil and gas-fired power stations. It’s a huge operation which takes over 13,000 employees at 60 sites across the UK. Combined with its retail strength, npower has the capacity to generate over 9,000MW of electricity from a portfolio of diverse, low-cost generation assets.
The npower renewable energy business, npower renewables, established the UK's first major offshore wind-farm and is in the process of developing other innovative energy-related technologies. The operating portfolio includes both onshore and offshore wind farms, hydroelectric power, and we are currently working on a joint project to develop the first wave power scheme in the Scottish Isles. Utilising these natural resources provides significant sources of power for the UK's present and future electricity needs.
Npower has achieved The Times Top 100 status for a third year running in 2009, cementing our position as a top graduate employer. We take our role in the community very seriously and for the last three years we have been in the Business in the Community (BitC) Corporate Responsibility Index top twenty. Npower has also been listed in The Times Top 50 'places where women want to work' since 2007. These are some of the reasons why npower believe they are Britain’s Brightest Energy Company.
