Centrica

WHAT’S IN A NAME?
While our name may not be familiar, Centrica is all around you. Sourcing, generating, processing, storing, trading, supplying, servicing and saving energy – our work takes us all over the world, underground and out to sea. So as a top 30 FTSE 100 company with over 28 million customer relationships, a £21 billion turnover and more than 32,000 employees, we may just be the largest, most progressive company you’ve never heard of. If you have the ambition and commercial savvy to be one of our future business leaders, read on to find out where you could fit in to our diverse organisation.
A VERTICALLY INTEGRATED ENERGY COMPANY
Centrica is a growing, integrated energy business. We are the parent company for a range of global brands that cover every aspect of our operations.
Centrica Energy manages power generation and gas production operations to ensure we meet the day-to-day needs of our customers – from platforms in the Morecambe gas fields, to gasfired power stations and wind farms. We also source and extract the energy of the future to supply Centrica's residential and business customers in the UK and Europe.
CDirect Energy supply power and related services to the US, while British Gas (a name you’ll no doubt be familiar with) is the largest supplier in the UK.
Centrica Storage provides an important link between power generation and supply, operating Rough, the largest gas storage facility in the UK: a partially depleted gas field under the North Sea supported by a gas processing terminal near Hull. Together they represent over 70% of the UK’s total storage capacity, able to meet around 10% of peak day demand.
WHERE COULD YOU FIT IN?
Our vision is to be a leading integrated company in our chosen markets. If you want to sit back and enjoy the ride, Centrica won’t be for you. If, however, you’re up for big challenges and rewards to match, we’ll give you the support and training you need to deliver results in an increasingly competitive market.
To say Centrica is a large, complex organisation is something of an understatement. Our graduate programmes have been designed to make the most of this, giving you a broad grounding as you take on ‘real’ jobs across the organisation. In fact you could be getting involved in any area of the energy lifecycle – from exploration and production with Centrica Energy, to front-line customer service at British Gas – although your exact role will depend on which of the schemes you join.
It all adds up to a programme that’s been recognised for Excellence in Graduate Recruitment by Personnel Today. And an organisation that’s been named the NCWE Best Work Experience provider. But don’t just take their word for it. Find out what some of our current graduates think at www.centrica.com/graduates
