Applicants should have, or be currently studying for, the following disciplines: Mechanical, Offshore, Petroleum, Mining, Aeronautical, Chemical or equivalent Engineering.

As a graduate ADTI can offer you the chance to become part of our accredited five year Graduate Development Programme (GDP). The five year GDP takes new graduates through three key career phases to becoming Senior Engineers responsible for multi-million pound operations. Practical hands on‚ rig experience is augmented by formal technical training. In addition to technical and practical operational competencies, all ADTI Engineers develop the commercial and contractual business skills that make ADTI's operations leading edge.

ADTI's Graduate Development Programme is accredited with both the Energy Institute and IMechE and is run in parallel with the IMechE's Monitored Professional Development Scheme (MPDS). This programme is designed to develop the Graduate Engineer to attain a high level of engineering professionalism and responsibility enabling them to achieve Chartered Engineer Status.

Phase 1: Training Period

This initial period of practical training which each Graduate Engineer goes through lasts a period of nine to twelve months. You will start with five weeks of induction and intensive safety classes to facilitate your transition offshore. Thereafter you will be assigned offshore with rig crews to gain practical experience first hand.

As you gain more experience and technical knowledge, this forms the basis for your continued development as a Well Engineer. Of even greater importance, you become a member of the drilling crew, which builds credibility and better understanding.

Phase 2: Wellsite Drilling Engineer

Equipped with the core technical knowledge, you will be assigned to your first responsible professional role. A Wellsite Drilling Engineer (WSDE) is a member of the offshore engineering supervisory team, reporting directly to the Drilling Supervisor.

During this phase, you will learn to implement the technical well programmes, which have been designed by the onshore Engineering team. You will gain supervisory as well as technical skills, essential to your career ahead. In order to gain operation experience, each Engineer will spend eighteen to twenty four months in this role, rotating through different projects to gain a full range of operational exposure.

Phase 3: Development Roles

Advancing from WSDE into development roles, you are encouraged to try out different areas within Well Engineering, to try to determine the path that interests you and plays to your strengths as an ADTI member.

Typically, Engineers move onshore into the Engineering team, designing the drilling programmes or you may choose to move into the Subsea or Well Completions teams. Well Engineers are also offered international secondments within ADTI and Transocean.

These secondments are earned on merit and not time served.

Intake Schedule

Applications are accepted from mid September 2010 and close on the 7th January 2011.
