With more than 3,600 employees and fifteen sites in Europe, USA, Canada and Asia, Thales Rail Signalling Solutions is offering a host of proven main line railway and urban rail transit solutions to move people safely through the network in a comfortable, reliable and cost-effective way. This Business Line has had a double digit growth for the last few years. It has increased its global market share to 15% with an annual order intake of 900 million Euros.
For many years now, Thales has been working to establish itself locally in all of its operational regions. This strategy has enabled the Group to improve its export sales, boost its activities in its “traditional” countries, but also heighten its presence in emerging countries. Thales is currently present in over 50 countries.
The majority of Thales Rail SIL4 signalling and train protection system products worldwide is based on TAS Platform generic fault tolerant computer system (HW,OS, Middleware), which has been developed during the last decade by the competence centre of Thales (former Alcatel) in Vienna. After the successful rollout of the first generation of the TAS Control Platform we are now going for the second generation. A major item on the roadmap of TAS Platform 2.x is the architectural support for diversity on HW, middleware and application layer.
The candidate is envisioned to work within the TAS Platform 2.x development team.
Profile of candidates
- University level studies in the area of computer science
- A minimum 3 year of studies completed, master degree or PhD candidates preferred
- Technical skills: Embedded computing, Proficiency in C, operating systems (esp. Linux), interest in safety critical systems
- Language skills: High proficiency in English, basic knowledge in German desired but not necessary
