Responsibilities

  • Working within the commercial side of the business the student will have cross functional experience of working within Customer Services, Material Planning and Production Control
  • Involved in the day to day activities of key departments within the plant, the successful applicant will get experience of working with key customers, understanding plant inventory and the role our suppliers play as well as understanding the order board ensuring engines are shipped on plan.
  • Project work which covers these key areas will also be an expectation with key deliverables being presented to senior management.
  • Cross functional experience as a six sigma team member
  • Reporting on key metrics through data analysis

Training Provided

All training relevant to the job role is provided.  Training is aimed at improving and extending your skills and knowledge in the work environment. Training will include Product Quality and others courses that will focus on building confidence, increasing communication, presentation skills and negotiation skills, improving time management and creating team dynamics.

Cummins also offer the opportunities to work with the community with organisations such as ‘Young Enterprise’ and many students choose to increase their skills set by working with local schools and charities.

Skills & Experience Required

As we offer an excellent opportunity for placement students to gain valuable experience it is essential that applicants:

  • Must have completed at least 2 years of a Statistics, Manufacturing Engineering or Business related sandwich degree with a statistical, Marketing or Operations module.
  • Must be proficient in using Microsoft packages. It would be beneficial, but not essential, to have a working knowledge of Minitab, or another statistical package.
  • Are able to assimilate data to deliver clear and concise presentations
  • Are able to work on their own initiative, self-motivate, and must have ability to work within a team.
