Building Service Sponsorship Opportunities
Requisition/Vacancy No: 36044BR
Position Title: Building Services Sponsorship Student/Buildings/UK & Ireland
Job Category: ENGINEERING - OTHER
AECOM Business Line: AECOM Corporate
Office Region: UK and Ireland
Office Location: UK - Multiple Locations
Job Description
AECOM's Building Services Engineers are currently working on some of the country's most exciting and challenging projects, from the new award winning home of digital broadcasting for the BBC at Portland Place to the Top Gear studios; from the redevelopment of the Grade 1 listed St Pancras hotel in London to the new Virgin Galactic Base in America. The variety and quality of our work is second to none.
In order to achieve organic growth and to sustain our future every year our Building Services Division sponsor a number of promising students through university.
This scheme enables the business to develop talent recognising the skills shortage in science, technology and engineering and establish relationships with promising students at an early stage in their careers.
Whilst limited to students who have either already obtained or expect to obtain a place on an appropriate degree course, applications are also welcomed from students who are commencing their first year of an approved university course or are part-way through.
Students are usually nominated for sponsorship following a period of work experience with us (either as an industrial placement or vacation student or via our STEP scheme). This enables both parties to have a clear understanding of the agreement and what is expected.
In return for sponsorship, we would expect students to:
- Return to work for us during their summer vacation for a minimum of eight weeks, exam preparations permitting, at a competitive rate of pay
- Act as an ambassador by promoting opportunities at AECOM to relevant undergraduates.
Regular contact is maintained with sponsorship students whilst back at University while sponsorship are paid direct to bank accounts in three instalments per academic year.
Following graduation, dependent on the grade attained, AECOM would hope to be able to offer full-time employment by enrolling recruits on our Graduate Training Programme, which will take them through to Chartered status.
This scheme is a great way to start a career by gaining invaluable hands-on work based experience (overseen by an assigned mentor) whilst supplementing academic studies. Individuals will work within accomplished teams potentially on a wide range of projects for a variety of clients. In turn the competitive salary earned helps to pay for education and living expenses whilst at University.
AECOM are committed to nurturing sponsorship students and securing future talent. Within AECOM there is a real opportunity for personal growth and professional development. Sponsorship students will work within a positive culture where learning and development is actively supported and promoted.
Our organisation has been awarded places in the Financial Times Best Workplaces and is an equal opportunities employer committed to creating a work environment that values diversity and positively encourages applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates from all walks of life. All applications will be considered on merit alone.
