Job Description
AECOM'S structural engineers are currently working on some of the world's most exciting and challenging building projects, from the new competition winning Halley VI Antarctic research base to Microsoft's UK headquarters building; from a new £220m state-of-the-art Cancer Treatment Centre featuring Europe's largest high energy linear accelerator chambers to sustainable bamboo structures for use in the third world. The variety and quality of our work is second to none.
In order to achieve organic growth and to sustain our future every year our Building Structures Division provides a number of industrial placements to promising students at University.
This scheme enables the business to develop talent recognising the skills shortage in science, technology and engineering and establish relationships with promising students at an early stage in their careers.
Students should be working towards a degree in a relevant technical or social-based discipline is ideal although in some instances other courses will be considered.
Industrial placements are offered to students throughout their academic years either prior to university or as part of their sandwich course. Following this period of work experience students may be offered a placement on our graduate sponsorship programme during their remaining time at university and thereafter, following graduation and dependent on the grade attained, AECOM may be able to offer full-time employment, by enrolling recruits on our Graduate Training Programme which will take them through to Chartered status.
Industrial Placements are a great way to start a career by gaining invaluable hands-on work based experience (overseen by an assigned mentor) whilst supplementing academic studies. Individuals will work within accomplished teams potentially on a wide range of projects for a variety of clients. In turn the competitive salary earned helps to pay for education and living expenses whilst at University.
AECOM are committed to nurturing industrial placement students and securing future talent. Within AECOM there is a real opportunity for personal growth and professional development. Industrial Placement students will work within a positive culture where learning and development is actively supported and promoted.
