The University of Northampton is a higher education establishment situated in the heart of England. The University offers many university degrees and courses each year to students in various subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Research
The University of Northampton submitted nine Units of Assessment for the RAE 2008. As a result the University’s research profile shows that 93% of the research undertaken within the University is both nationally and internationally recognised for its originality, significance and rigour, with 18% achieving the highest levels of international excellence. Furthermore, a proportion of this research is regarded as world - leading in History, Education (including Children & Youth), Health and Business & Management.
History of the University
Northampton Technical College opened in 1932 and was followed by the School of Art in 1937. The College of Education, at Park Campus, was opened in 1972.
In 1975, Nene College was formed from the amalgamation of the College of Education, College of Technology and College of Art with c.2,000 students. The institution became University College Northampton in 1999.
In 2005 University College Northampton was awarded university title and full research degree awarding powers becoming The University of Northampton.
