Entry Level Systems Engineer - Underwater Systems

About the role:

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • System definition activities – requirements definition, functional and physical definitions.
  • Preparation and presentation of system level design reviews.
  • Monitoring of emerging detailed design within various implementation teams – acoustic, hardware, mechanical, software etc.
  • IVVQ planning and execution, including platform trials from time-to-time.
  • Requirements sell-off and contract acceptance with customer.
  • Customer and end-user liaison.
  • Analysis of system performance.
  • Alignment of Product vs Project.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Success of system level design reviews.
  • Delivery of Systems Engineering artefacts on time, to budget and of required quality.
  • Success of customer acceptance activities.
  • Good working relationship with all parties identified above.
  • Adherence to Chorus 2 and CMMI Level 3 principles

About you

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Bachelors Degree level, or equivalent, in engineering or relevant scientific discipline.
  • Good ‘A’ levels, or equivalent, in Maths and Physics.

Desirable

  • Higher level Degree/Doctorate, or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience gained through academic or work-place activities, e.g. modelling, project work, analysis, etc
  • Knowledge of acoustic design and/or performance in underwater environment
  • MatLab, or equivalent, experience.
  • Understanding of signal processing and network design.
  • Willingness to develop systems engineering skills
  • Strong analytical abilities with a methodical approach
  • System modelling skills

Personal:

  • Must be able to obtain Baseline Security Clearances, then full Security Cleared.
  • Looking for UK Eyes/British only
  • Full UK Driving License advantageous.

In line with Thales' Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and/or education history for up to three years. Some vacancies may require full Security Clearance which can require further evidence to be provided.
