The software engineering team at Clearview Traffic is growing rapidly to meet demand for the next generation of its hugely successful Traffic Data Management product.

As part of this growth we have created two new Graduate/Junior Web Developer roles with the specific intention of fast-tracking successful candidates to a full-stack web development career.

About You

Above all else you will be passionate about developing your skills to build web applications that provide the best user experience.

You will have a sound understanding of programming fundamentals and be able to apply your understanding to solve real world problems. For this role we require a relevant formal qualification, ideally a degree (2:1 or above).

Our current technology stack is essentially Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP (LAMP) along with Drupal (a PHP-based CMS) and Dojo (a JavaScript toolkit and framework). Familiarity with these technologies will be an advantage but is not essential.

Job Purpose

Clearview Traffic is seeking a Web Developer who is passionate about building smart web applications focussed on creating a great user experience. This is an exciting opportunity for candidates looking to become part of a very creative, energetic and innovative team who are looking to inspire and push the boundaries of applications within the Intelligent Transport System market.

Whilst being a programming whizz is a bonus the most important requirement for us is that you have a genuine interest for programming. You should be passionate about the user experience and this will be reflected in the quality of your work and innovative solutions. If you have a ‘can do’ attitude for solving problems and a willingness to learn then we would love to hear from you.

We are looking for Web Developer who is self-motivated, adaptable and willing to learn. You will be part of small team and will be mentored by a senior developer throughout your first year in an environment that fosters creativity and innovation covering the following areas:

  • Development of web applications utilising Javascript and associated frameworks
  • Maintenance and support of web applications
  • Creation of user interfaces in XHTML, CSS and Javascript
  • Assist with application testing
  • Other duties as required by management.

Development Skills


  • Experience with one or more JavaScript libraries and frameworks.
  • Knowledge of at least one CMS platform (ideally Drupal)
  • An understanding of cross-browser template creation and responsive design
  • Able to stay ahead of the curve with new and emerging technologies
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly

Highly Desirable

  • Knowledge of XML, JSON and other data formats
  • Ability to work with key owners and stakeholders to document requirements
  • Knowledge of additional development languages such as PHP and JAVA
  • Basic knowledge of database design and development
  • Knowledge of UX/GUI development
  • Familiarity with APIs, web services, and 3rd party platforms and libraries.
  • A formal IT qualification or university degree is preferable but not essential

Circumstances of the Job

This is a full-time role with a competitive basic salary. In addition, the company offers a contributory pension scheme (after qualifying period) and 25 days annual leave (+8 days bank holiday).

The post holder will be based in our new innovation centre in Milton Keynes (MK9), working in close liaison with other staff at our Bicester headquarters and with flexibility to work from home on occasion. A clean driving licence is desirable, as there may be a requirement to travel to parts of the UK. Overnight stays away from home may also be necessary on occasions and overseas travel may be required from time to time to attend international exhibitions or visit partners.
