BDO: How to apply

At BDO, we’re looking for strikingly different people to work with us and our clients. Whatever your background, you could be absolutely right for BDO.

We recognise that your qualifications and work experience don’t tell us your full story. This is why our entire recruitment process follows a strength based approach, so we can find out what you care about and what you enjoy doing. These are your strengths and they paint us a bigger picture about you and your suitability to join us.

All candidates must apply online to the specific role of their choice and can only apply to one role at a time. Candidates need to demonstrate a deep understanding of the role they’re applying for including the professional qualification they are interested in studying.

What we want to know

We’ll ask you about your academic background, work experience and extracurricular activities. This is an important opportunity for us to learn more about you, what makes you tick, and whether you’re right for BDO. As part of your application process, take the time to reflect upon your strengths and what you can bring to the company. And when answering questions, share any information you want us to know, but don’t exaggerate, keep everything factual.

Remember to ‘Save as draft’ as you work through your application and review before you submit, as you won’t be able to make changes afterward. Once submitted, we’ll send you an email to let you know we’ve received it. You can then track your application by logging back into the system at any time.

Tips for applying online:

A great application that helps you stand out from the crowd takes time, energy and thought. The key to success lies in preparation and careful research into the role. You should take the time to consider your own skills.

Consider the role you are applying for and make the right choice for you. Here are some common-sense points to consider when completing your online application:

  • answer each question fully and correctly. Present clear evidence that you have the kind of qualities and skills we’re looking for.
  • we’re interested in what you’ve done, but even more interested in what you do well and enjoy doing.
  • reflect and amend any answers if necessary before completing the more detailed questions online.
  • keep to the suggested word limits. Accurate, concise answers are generally better received.
  • save your application regularly – you don’t have to complete it all at once.
  • check grammar and spelling, and get someone else to proof-read your application.
  • print a copy of your application – in case you need to refer to it again.
