"It’s amazing that Schlumberger really focuses on employees for the long term, encouraging growth as a person, an employee, a manager, whatever it may be."

Can you briefly describe your career to date?

I started in 2009 as a GRDP trainee within HSE and was responsible for maintaining our Berwick facility. For my remaining GRDP rotations, I worked in various roles in Manufacturing Operations, Materials Management and HR.

In 2012, I became Inventory Controller for the Measurement Systems group, responsible for 13 plants and 10 district offices. This was a challenging role but I managed to help the division reduce inventory by 13% in 2012!

After that, I moved on to Materials Manager which involved managing the procurement, planning and logistics for the Houston JFK facility.

In February 2016, I moved to the Integration Global Supply Chain team as a Sourcing Leader. My team is responsible for Electronics, Hydraulics, Valves, Services and Fabrication.

I transferred to my current role in January 2018 as Global Sourcing Centre Manager. My team overseas the global sourcing efforts for a range of technical categories such as Field Equipment & Services, IT, Engineering & Construction, Chemicals and Manufacturing Direct.

What attracted you to us, and why did you decide to join?

The opportunity to work in four different roles in the organisation was very appealing. The employees that interviewed me were very welcoming, informative and down to earth.

What do you enjoy most about working here?

I enjoy the challenge and trust the organisation gives its employees off the bat. I enjoy knowing that my input and opinions matter. It strengthens my commitment to this company every day.

What is the training like?

There is a mix of on-the-job training and formal training. I personally feel that hands-on training is the best way to learn. You always have the support of your peers and management when needed of course, but you fully get a grasp of the position when you’ve done the work.

What opportunities are there for you to progress in your career?

There are endless opportunities for career progression and cross-functional positions are encouraged throughout your career.

What types of challenges do you face in your job?

Ensuring our suppliers are responding to requests in a timely manner. Our approach is critical as we do not want to damage relationships with suppliers that could affect the business.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Always work hard because you benefit from support, guidance and progression in your career.
