We provide a wide range of reporting, compliance and energy management services using our proprietary software Carbon DesktopTM, in conjunction with an experienced consultancy team and latest analytics. Our services fall into three core areas: 

  • Aim for Zero – Expert independent advice. 
  • Deliver for Zero – Technical and implementation support. 
  • Report for Zero – Data driven insights and disclosures. 

About this role

Our Corporates team works with companies across all industries including manufacturers and distributors with energy intensive processes and retailers with extensive supply chains.

Our Deliver for Zero service acts on clients’ net zero strategic aspirations, breaking them down into implementable carbon/energy action plans and projects. You work directly with clients to turn their aims into a reality through site audits, monitoring and proposing short-term data solutions to optimise efficiency.

As a Junior Consultant based in our Deliver for Zero team, you support the delivery of energy and water management consultancy services to Verco’s large, worldwide manufacturing and energy intensive clients.

These include onsite energy auditing, group programme support and implementing Verco’s proprietary energy management software Carbon DesktopTM and associated systems such as automatic metering. You work with different teams across the business, providing technical excellence and delivery support across a range of complex projects and business development activities.

How you contribute

  • Project Management: You deliver required project inputs according to time, quality and budget requirements. In time you take responsibility for project work streams and small-scale consulting projects.
  • Technical input: You provide technical input to projects
    • You contribute to the delivery of energy and water consumption reduction audits at a wide range of sites, with a specific focus on manufacturing sites within the food and beverage sector.
    • You work with sites to develop metering and data collection solutions that are supported by Verco’s proprietary Carbon DesktopTM Software
    • You provide high quality insightful data analysis which supports the ongoing energy management challenges faced by our clients
  • Business development and proposal writing: You assist proposal creation through the collation of required information and to provide support to managers.
  • Client management: You maintain strong relationships with existing clients through professional interactions
  • Operational: You provide timely responses to operational needs including invoicing, reviews, project management information, time-sheeting, health & safety, etc.
  • Environmental: You contribute to Verco’s sustainability targets and internal CSR team objectives when required.

What you bring

Here are the key things you need to be able to demonstrate, plus some others that are great to have but not essential.

Education, Qualifications & Training

  • Essential: Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering
  • Desirable: Master's or relevant post-graduate qualification

Employment Experience

  • Essential: Exposure to energy management or energy efficiency in an industrial or commercial setting
  • Desirable: Project Management, Energy Management, Supporting/advising clients on technical issues re: energy efficiency.

Knowledge & Understanding

  • Essential: Energy use in industry and/or industrial processes, buildings, sustainable energy generation technologies
  • Desirable: Key UK, EU and international policies, Knowledge of wider sustainability issues & carbon management, Macroeconomic knowledge/expertise

Skills / Competencies


  • Very high level of competence in the use of IT, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communicator (verbal & written)
  • Proactive and inquisitive approach
  • Ability to work independently & creatively on challenging problems
  • Sophisticated analytical approach


  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Power BI
  • MS Project, GIS
  • IES modelling
  • Any macro-economic modelling tool
  • Any financial modelling tool

  • Willingness to travel nationally/internationally
  • Able to present a professional appearance
  • A passion for sustainability


  • Clean UK driving licence


Based in one of our offices at Bath, Chorley (Lancashire) or London, depending on a mix of your personal preference, our business requirements and space availability. Hybrid working is standard, with two days minimum in the office as our norm. Home and remote based arrangements in certain circumstances are also an option for this role.
