We provide a wide range of reporting, compliance and energy management services using our proprietary software Carbon DesktopTM, in conjunction with an experienced consultancy team and latest analytics. Our services fall into three core areas: 

  • Aim for Zero – Expert independent advice. 
  • Deliver for Zero – Technical and implementation support. 
  • Report for Zero – Data driven insights and disclosures. 

About this role

Our Corporates team works with companies across all industries including manufacturers and distributors with energy intensive processes and retailers with extensive supply chains.

Our Aim for Zero service develops net zero pathways and plans with ambitious targets so that businesses have a clear, progressive, but achievable strategy for transforming their carbon impact.

As Junior Consultant you provide technical resource excellence to projects and business development activities in manufacturing/industry and retail. You support the delivery of complex projects for high energy use businesses, working on projects in different teams across the business as well as with some of the UK’s leading sustainability teams, and large manufacturing and energy intensive clients. 

How you contribute

  • Project Management: You deliver required project inputs according to time, quality and budget requirements. In time you take responsibility for project work streams and small-scale consulting projects.
  • Technical input: You provide technical input to projects
    • You contribute to the delivery of energy and water consumption reduction audits at a wide range of sites, with a specific focus on manufacturing sites within the food and beverage sector.
    • You work with sites to develop metering and data collection solutions that are supported by Verco’s proprietary Carbon DesktopTM Software
    • You provide high quality insightful data analysis which supports the ongoing energy management challenges faced by our clients
  • Business development and proposal writing: You assist proposal creation through the collation of required information and to provide support to managers.
  • Client management: You maintain strong relationships with existing clients through professional interactions
  • Operational: You provide timely responses to operational needs including invoicing, reviews, project management information, time-sheeting, health & safety, etc.
  • Environmental: You contribute to Verco’s sustainability targets and internal CSR team objectives when required.

What you bring

Here are the key things you need to be able to demonstrate, plus some others that are great to have but not essential.

Education, Qualifications & Training

  • Essential:  Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Mathematics, Geography, Environmental Science, or Economics with with a minimum 2:1 classification.
  • Desirable:  Master's or other relevant post-graduate qualification (clean energy/sustainability)     

Employment Experience

  • Essential: Some experience of supporting/advising clients on technical issues associated with energy efficiency.
  • Desirable: Familiarity with technology, financial, legislative and market instruments to achieve environmental objectives & targets
  •  Experience supporting clients in the analysis and management of strategic risk
  • Project Management experience

Knowledge & Understanding

  • Essential: Sophisticated analytical approach
  • Ability to work independently and creatively on challenging problems 
  • Awareness of key UK, EU & international policies 
  • Knowledge of wider sustainability issues & carbon management
  • Desirable: Technical knowledge of energy use in building/s, industrial processes and/or sustainable energy generation technologies 
  • Macroeconomic knowledge/expertise

Skills / Competencies


  • Very high level of competence in the use of IT, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communicator in both verbal and written formats
  • Proactive and inquisitive approach
  • Strong research skills


  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Power BI
  • Any financial modelling tool
  • Language skills in particular German, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese

  • Willingness to travel nationally/internationally
  • Able to present a professional appearance
  • A passion for sustainability


  • Clean UK driving licence


Based in either our Bath or London office. Hybrid working as standard, with two days minimum in the office as our norm.
