At TfL, the things we do have a huge impact on Londoners and the visitors to our city. General Management is at the heart of everything we do and every decision we make.
We never stop looking for ways to improve the service we provide to our customers. Whether that's giving frontline staff the tools and technology they need to give real-time travel information or making the transport network more accessible to all.
It's our managers who define the vision, set the strategy, and lead the way to delivering the improvements London needs. This scheme will be your gateway to a position of real seniority, and the variety of experiences to understand the area of the business that inspires you the most.
"Before TfL, I was a medical student and after med school I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do. When I saw this scheme, what attracted me was that I could try a variety of things to find out what I like." — Rayhan Haque, General Management apprentice
You'll gain experience across a range of different projects from London Underground, Surface Transport and buses, to pedestrian and river boat services, providing opportunities for challenges, growth and development.
You could find yourself working behind a desk gathering and analysing data that will guide multi-million pound investment decisions. Or benchmarking TfL against other metros and bus operators from around the world, to see what we can learn from them and do better here.
Or you could be on the frontline, engaging with key business sponsors such as MPs or London Assembly Members, to explain our proposals and answer their concerns, while managing a team of staff and thousands of customers every day.
Upon successful completion of this scheme, you could roll-off as a Customer Service Manager or an Assistant Business Strategy Planner, which could lead to further career development opportunities such as Trains Operation Manager or Business Strategy Manager.
