Quantity surveyors are at the heart of London's growth, transforming our infrastructure. We need the next generation of quantity surveyors to develop solutions for the London’s challenges, from mass urbanisation to diminishing resources. You'll work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure value for money is being achieved.
London is one of the world’s most exciting and vibrant cities. We work hard to ensure millions of people can travel safely and reliably. With major investment in our transport system and the infrastructure that supports it, we’re doing everything we can to keep our city moving, working and growing.
As a quantity surveyor, you’ll work within a project team to upgrade our infrastructure (which dates back to 1863), whilst ensuring we deliver an efficient service. As we look to modernise our assets, you'll be involved in projects which extend our network, improve our station capacity, purchase new trains and buses to enhance customer experience, improve the reliability of the network via technology updates, reduce times between services and developing new entrances in stations to reduce congestion and support London’s population.
As a graduate, your three year development programme will be made up of up to six placement rotations. Our aim is to equip you with the range of skills and experience you need for your successful career. We also understand that everyone’s career is different, so every graduate’s journey is unique. Here’s an idea of what yours could look like:
Location: London (there might be some hybrid working involved depending on a placement)
Duration: Three years
Everything we do as an organisation is to ensure that our evolving city remains future-proof for millions of Londoners. Our talented graduates form a vital part of that vision, so it’s important that we find the best people to help us do this.
As a member of the team, we’ll give you responsibility and the opportunity to add value from day one. If you are excited by inspiring and influencing the future of London and are up for a challenge and thrive under pressure, then this is the career path for you.
You must already hold or be on track to achieve a minimum of 2:2 in Quantity Surveying or equivalent accredited by RICS or a RICS accredited Quantity Surveying post grad diploma.
Professional membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Our graduate quantity surveyors have the opportunity to make a huge impact. Typically, within three years of completion you could become a Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) which opens more opportunities worldwide. You could move towards Assistant Commercial Manager managing a variety of complex projects which would further enhance your experience and career.
Whilst on the scheme, we’ll support your technical development through a wide range of on-the-job practical experiences and placements. We’ll also support your professional development through a combination of classroom-led training courses, online training courses, mentoring opportunities and structured networking opportunities with scheme alumni.
You will receive one-to-one support throughout the programme from your scheme sponsor and your line manager. You’ll also be connected to a ‘buddy’ who will be a second year of the scheme.
During and after the graduate scheme we'll support you in gaining professional membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) through a variety of mediums, including: RICS-accredited training courses, in-house development schemes, preparation for APC interviews and mentoring. You will also be invited to a monthly 'APC Forum' to share information and ideas.
We also have an established Graduate and Apprentice Committee and Alumni group, who organise informative events to enhance your understanding of the organisation and provide opportunities to develop your career. They also provide valuable support for the wellbeing of current graduates.
We've signed the Gradcracker feedback pledge.
(This means that we will supply feedback if requested after an interview.)
