We're primarily a distributor of components of renewable energy systems - from solar panels to batteries and heat pumps. Most of our staff operate forklifts rather than keyboards.
Midsummer is a fast-growing company selling a range of renewable energy products, primarily to installation companies, from our offices in Cambridge and Dublin. We sell solar PV systems, battery storage, electric vehicle chargers, heat pumps and a variety of other associated products, and were recognised as the UK's best renewables distributor for 2020.
Are you enthusiastic about helping people and getting stuck into the technical details of a problem? Do you have an engineer's understanding of renewable energy systems - or the ability to learn?
We pride ourselves on being a distributor that offers a wide range of great products, but with the support of friendly and helpful service too. We need someone to take a technical lead for our grid-connected systems - assessing new products, understanding technical requirements, regulations and information, providing technical support to our trade customers, and organising and delivering training sessions internally to our sales team.
You enjoy a challenge, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. You have a technical background and a head for numbers and theory, coupled with solid communication skills. You are able to take responsibility and show initiative when working autonomously, and able to create and implement new processes as we grow.
You enjoy a dynamic work atmosphere, and have a friendly and easy-going manner with co-workers and customers. You're happy to get involved with whatever needs doing, and eager to be part of helping a small company grow.
Experience in electrical engineering, technical troubleshooting, customer service or PV installations would be preferable - but it is far from essential, and recent graduates who want to begin a career in renewables would be equally welcome to apply. As long as you are hard working, work well on your own initiative, and have a smile on your face even at the end of a long hard day we'd love to hear from you!
You'll be joining a fairly small team and see the results of your work from day one. Our office and warehouse work side by side, so you’ll be sharing a dynamic, busy site with the rest of the staff. There’s a friendly and informal atmosphere, and a real buzz when things get going.
You will learn a lot on the job, and we’ll bring you up to speed as fast as possible.
It's a fast-moving industry so new products, customers and technologies come along all the time - there will always be new things to learn. Our own tools are also evolving rapidly.
This is a full time role based in our offices on the outskirts of Cambridge, with a salary of £24,000-£28,000 depending on experience. Long term employees also take home a share of the profits of the company.
We can be flexible with start dates.
We've signed the Gradcracker feedback pledge.
(This means that we will supply feedback if requested after an interview.)
