As the Kilo Lab Chemist the main purpose of your role will be to operate 10 and 20 L vessel streams for the production of small quantities of intermediates and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) in a safe and current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) compliant manner. You will also be expected to perform laboratory work to support production alongside the Development Chemists.

This role is based at our site in Cramlington and will normally work Monday-Friday 37 hours per week, but flexibility will be required on occasion to work alternative early or late shifts as and when required but this will be minimal.

Your responsibilities

  • Operating 10 and 20 L vessel streams according to Process Record Sheet instructions.
  • Recording and checking data accurately.
  • Reporting deviations in a timely manner and actively participating in investigations.
  • Managing raw materials and intermediates required for processing, including inventory checks.
  • Participating in Design Qualification meetings and risk assessments for processes to be performed in the 10 and 20 L vessel streams.
  • Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping within manufacturing areas.
  • Recommending processing improvements based upon experience from manufacturing campaigns.
  • Performing laboratory scale cGMP manufacture, such as seed preparation.
  • Assisting the Development Chemists with laboratory work.
  • Complying with all health, safety and environmental requirements.

Requirements for the role

  • Minimum of either a Master's degree in Chemistry, or a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry with a minimum of one year's relevant practical experience.
  • Previous experience within a cGMP environment would be highly advantageous.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
  • Have strong practical chemistry skills.
