The Placement Programme

The Industrial Placement Programme will see you work on a series of rotations during a 9 – 12 month period. Each rotation will help you gain insight and experience in a different area and within different teams, helping to broaden your horizons.

We operate as T-shaped consultants meaning that first and foremost all members of the Digital Advantage team, regardless of specialty, are wide-breadth consultants with people and stakeholder skills at the core.

All Digital Advantage consultants will then have specific specialisms from Data, Security, Applications, Cyber and in this instance, Business Analysis and Solution Architecture skills and experience.

A Dedicated Development Pathway

During your role with our Digital Advantage Team, we will aim to develop your current studies and interests in line with our business development and client projects. Along the way you will pick up several skills and opportunities:

  • Business Analysis: Work alongside our Business Analysis team, working on real-time customer problems using a variety of tools and techniques ranging from User Experience, Requirements Engineering, Stakeholder Analysis, Business Process Modeling and an opportunity work with a variety of data.
  • Designing Tomorrows Technology with our IT Architects: Working alongside our Solution and Enterprise Architects, help design, plan, implement, and govern enterprise information technology architecture using the very latest industry tools and methodologies.
  • Placement Challenge: With a joint Young Professional team you will work throughout your year with other likeminded individuals solving real world problems, with topics such a as Net Zero, Sustainability Management,
  • Digital Energy Consumption and researching trends and technologies identified by our senior market analysts.
  • Learning & Development: During your stay there will be opportunities to attend dedicated training courses in line with your projects and first hand access to a wealth of online training material.

Industrial year locations: Birmingham, Bristol, London, Manchester
Degree requirements: On track to achieve a 2.2 Bachelor’s or above in Business Computing, Applied Computing, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Information Communications & Technology, Aerospace Engineering, Physics

As an Industry Placement student within Digital Advantage, you’ll work on a variety of projects across the breadth of our Markets: Aerospace, Defence, Energy, Government, Infrastructure, Security, Transport, Utilities, amongst others. You will solve real business problems, applying a human touch, and utilising appropriate technology to enable progress.

We are diverse in our thoughts and challenge the status quo to truly understand the root of problems, utilising a range of techniques to support clients understand their current business, as well as work with them to advise and lead improvements to their future business endeavours.

Our collective skills in supporting our specialised disciplines means we can deliver holistic ownership in supporting solution design, applying best practice and appropriate frameworks to meet requirements.

Our success lies in a cohesive appetite for integration across the Atkins businesses, working to define and align effective and evidenced based, business, technology strategy and transformation.
