Graduate Engineer - Water Industry

This enables us to develop and deliver confidently pragmatic water strategies, solving problems that matter to our clients and their customers – improving water quality, reducing flooding and pollution and optimising performance of their systems.

The Graduate roles available in the Enhanced Cleanliness Index team will combine office/home-based work with site-based deployments, working alongside design and delivery professionals who are at the forefront of the industry.

Career pathways available for candidates joining us in this graduate position include both engineering and project management roles.

These roles will initially be based in Kirkintilloch– we will be relocating a few miles along the road to Stepps in early 2024.

Typical Responsibilities include:

  • Development of survey designs – highlighting assets on the water network for surveying
  • Completion of surveys – this role will involve extended periods during which you will be part of the ECI Site Survey Team, undertaking surveys of assets across the Scottish Water network
  • Development of Final Designs – reviewing survey results and detailing which assets will be sampled
  • Preparation of factual and interpretative reports
  • Extensive use of GIS, including software such as FULCRUM
  • Data handling and analysis of large datasets
  • Client and stakeholder engagement and management

Skills, Education & Qualifications required:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geography, Environmental Science, GIS, Computing or Mathematics
  • Good communication skills and written English
  • Ability to work in a team to solve problems that matter
  • Computing skills, including previous experience of Excel
  • A full clean driving license
