Arriva Graduate Programme - Engineering

We are Arriva

Arriva is one of the largest providers of passenger transport in Europe, employing around 60,000 people and delivering more than 2.2 billion passenger journeys across 14 European countries each year. Arriva is part of Deutsche Bahn (DB) and is responsible for DB's regional passenger transport services outside Germany.

Working as an Engineering graduate in London you will become a tech specialist, working on environmental protection with emissions, processes that will make changes to vehicles, examinning parts and making suggestions and changes to ensure systems and vehicles work better and more efficiently. You will start the role working in a bus garage environment to understand what we do in bus maintenance, you will get involved with fixing buses and then step back and look at how it can be done better, reviewing processes and equipment, working with the tech team and closely with the Engineering Director getting an understanding of what happens in head office and the business as a whole. After the graduate scheme you will have the opportunity to supervise a team around process management and in time manage a full bus garage, and after that you could look to move into a role as a Fleet Engineer or Chief Engineer.

Our Programme

As an Arriva Graduate, you will complete an 18-month programme which is designed to attract and develop talented people.  During the programme, you will have the chance to do placements in different business areas and work alongside experienced leaders, giving you a unique insight into our business and the skills you need to excel within it. It is possible that one of these placements is an international one, to one of the 14 European countries that Arriva operates in. You will attend a set of graduate events and training modules where you will gain knowledge about Arriva’s operations, strategy and business model and where you will meet Arriva’s senior managers and Graduates from other countries. Apart from your main assignments, you will be working on an international project together with other Arriva Graduates. You will be carefully supported by your mentor and will become part of an international Graduate network.
