"My managers and colleagues have and continue to be extremely helpful and always made me feel welcome and wanted"
My lifelong passion for engineering led me to study Electronic & Electrical Engineering at the University of Leeds (2015-2019), where I achieved 1st class with honours, at the MEng level.
After graduating, my next step was (and still is) to become a knowledgeable, competent, and valued Electrical Engineer - as well as achieve an IET Chartership. To further this, I knew I needed to develop my skillset and work ethic - to join a company that would allow me to grow and thrive as a fresh graduate.
Such growth would require challenge, and an environment in which learning is encouraged. Since joining RED in 2020, both have been provided through a diverse workload and plenty of mentoring - on both the general completion of day-to-day tasks, and in the pursuit of Chartership.
My early duties involved assisting project engineers with their deliverables - from modifying, checking, and correcting engineering drawings and 3D models, to performing space planning exercises for prospective projects.
After my first year at RED, I transitioned to the Research & Development team. My duties then became aligned with our goal to keep RED at the forefront of the Data Centre industry through (among other things) the research of new technologies, and the development of useful tools to enhance business operations. For example, I have been heavily involved in the production of a concepts library to act as a reference guide for a multitude of topics, helped develop standard calculation sheets, and produce research papers on Energy Storage Systems. All of these have helped fast-track my skills and knowledge.
My experiences with RED have been continually very positive. My managers and colleagues have and continue to be extremely helpful and always made me feel welcome and wanted. I am proud to be a part of the ever-growing RED family. My next steps, aside from Chartership, are to expand my skills and responsibilities through proactive planning and self-management - to always have a clear path forward.
