Business Operations Management Graduate

"This fast-paced programme has helped me develop as a young professional and today I feel empowered and determined to continue making a valuable contribution to the company."

My apprenticeship/grad placement, why I chose it and why I chose Babcock:

After graduating from university, Babcock gave me the chance to embark on an exciting professional journey. It’s not common to experience a new role every six months. There are opportunities across different areas within the business - sometimes internationally. Babcock invest in the younger generation to make sure they become the leaders of tomorrow, and it is great to be a part of this. This fast-paced programme has helped me develop as a young professional and today I feel empowered and determined to continue making a valuable contribution to the company.

My typical day:

After spending a year in the UK, I am enjoying my morning cuppa – while going through my emails and ongoing actions that need completion. There is always time to chase stakeholders and monitor progress on each of the projects I’m involved in. Throughout the day, I will attend meetings or seek advice from my colleagues. If in the office and not working from home, I will pass through the hangar where our engineers are doing incredible work on our aircrafts.

Depending on the day, I could deliver a presentation sharing guidance or progress on a project, brainstorm a new task or put together a pack for the Business Leadership Team. When the opportunity arises, I go on site visits to broaden my understanding of the business and to learn more about our operations. I’m always flexible and enjoy the autonomy of working on a variety of projects, all while knowing that I’ve the support from my line manager. I love working in a role where each day is different and brings its own challenges, as well as a great deal of satisfaction!

My favourite part of the job:

When I joined Babcock in the Aviation sector, I didn’t have an aerospace background. I had to start from scratch and address everyday challenges. It’s always rewarding to look back and acknowledge what has been collaboratively delivered and the progress that has been made along the way.

Most challenging thing I’ve ever done to date:

It has to be leading an engineering project team. I guided them through a new design and completion maintenance tool to support them in their daily maintenance tasks and help them better monitor their progress.
