Get an incredible summer experience or immerse yourself in our world for a year. It’s not just graduates who get to experience the extraordinary things we do at Babcock. These 10 to 12-week internships over the summer holiday give you the opportunity to try out a discipline and see if it’s something you want to do once you graduate.

What you’ll be doing

We will give you a broad education in all areas of nuclear safety engineering. This could involve working on several projects, and training with safety case authors, human factors consultants, engineers of all disciplines, radiation protection advisors and specialists in assessing shielding requirements. There will also be opportunities to work with other specialists, such as environmental management. Your work will support the safe construction, operation and decommissioning of nuclear facilities and Royal Navy submarines.

What you’ll get out of it

During the summer placement, you’ll get the opportunity to work in a department relevant to your degree subject so you can start putting theory into practice. You can expect to work on current projects where you’ll have real input and learn how to work safely in a workplace environment.

What you’ll need

  • To be in Year 3 (or above) in your studies of a relevant degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • To be able to satisfy the MoD’s security requirements (you may need to complete a medical assessment)

We've signed the Gradcracker feedback pledge.

(This means that we will supply feedback if requested after an interview.)
