"I enjoy the freedom to suggest ideas and to see them through, to be given the opportunity to find a niche that works for you."
I studied a physics Masters Degree at Lancaster University, completing in July 2022. I joined Forsberg a week after my university term ended, initially I started on a three-month internship as a Software Engineer which then became a permanent position after my internship ended. Forsberg stood out to me because they had some really interesting past and present projects in areas that I already had some knowledge in. The business works in high quality specialised areas which is exciting to be a part of. There also seemed to be good opportunity to progress and develop.
I have worked on a project using data from receivers to locate GPS jammers, improving and understanding the algorithms used to do this. I have also worked independently doing R&D work on locator algorithms as well as working on analysis tools for large data sets and currently I am in the initial stages of researching and understanding a new project.
I was given the resources and support to learn a new programming language and to improve on the language and skills I already had from my degree. I have had exposure to professional practices and standards of code which are important for transitioning from a student to a software developer.
So far during my time at Forsberg, there have been multiple social events outside of the office giving me the opportunity to interact with colleagues in a different, more relaxed setting, as well as in-office teambuilding and events to help get to know my peers better. Day to day everyone is very friendly around the office.
I enjoy the freedom to suggest ideas and to see them through, to be given the opportunity to find a niche that works for you, though the view from the office is a close contender!
