You love nothing more than tackling complex problems. Innovating. Thinking about how things could work better. Wondering ‘What if?’ and asking ‘Why not?’ And that’s exactly the kind of mindset that we look for in our engineers. Right now, we have some 16,500 of them around the globe, all working to find the answers to some of engineering’s toughest challenges. All of them have outstanding technical knowledge, determination and a passion for finding ever-better solutions – solutions that will continue to set us apart. For you, it means the chance to get involved with revolutionary work. Work you can be truly proud of.
This is where your amazing engineering future begins. Our structured Engineering Graduate Development Programme has been designed to give you an immersive experience across a broad range of engineering areas. As well as receiving first-class training and support, you’ll work alongside and learn from some of the most respected and highly qualified professionals in their field. To start with, your focus will be on developing in-depth knowledge in a specific engineering discipline and a particular area of the business. From this foundation, you can start your journey towards becoming a world-class specialist or a broadly skilled engineer, or developing into a leadership role.
You’ll complete four attachments covering the key stages in our engineering lifecycle: Define, Make and Verify. Each placement will last for around four months and will see you putting your mind to work on live projects – it’s an opportunity for you to share your thinking and test your ideas from the word go. You’ll be solving problems and getting involved in the design of integrated systems while keeping an eye on feasibility, customer need and cost. Everyone on the programme will complete a Design and Make attachment where you’ll complete a real-life improvement project with other graduates. As part of a small team, you’ll face up to a current company challenge or opportunity, and deliver a solution that offers direct value to a customer. You’ll manage the whole project from start to finish, evaluating the problem, designing a solution, making a prototype, verifying that it works and then planning how to roll it out in the business using project management and systems engineering tools and techniques.
Technical abilities are a must, so you'll need at least a 2:1 bachelor's degree in Engineering, Maths or a relevant Physical Science or equivalent qualification. Just as importantly, you’ll have excellent communication skills and plenty of initiative. Inquisitive and resourceful, you’ll always be looking for new ways to make your mark and, because this is a rotational programme, you’ll be flexible when it comes to where you’re based.
Our high-performance, integrated power solutions are at the cutting edge of technology. From powering huge commercial vessels to nuclear submarines, supersonic fighter jets to highly efficient passenger planes, or rail locomotives to luxury yachts, we go above and beyond to create better.
