Join us here, and you’ll be making full use of your commercial aptitude and creative mindset as you help us to find and implement innovative new ways to do business. You’ll be involved in evaluating new business opportunities, managing our contracts and looking at how we can maximise profits and minimise risk at every stage of the contract lifecycle, from inception and signature to ongoing management, disputes and contract closure. As well as making a real contribution to real projects, you’ll share your ideas about how we can continually improve and deliver on our promise of being ‘trusted to deliver excellence’ to our customers.
We want to give you a strong sense of how our business works, so over a period of 12 to 18 months, you’ll undertake a series of placements exposing you to the different areas that the Commercial team supports. These placements will be tailored to your business area and are designed to enable you to expand your network within the company, and build on your development needs. The programme will give you a solid foundation of soft and technical skills which will help to kick-start your career when the graduate programme is complete. You’ll have a lot to take in, so you’ll be supported by a Graduate Development Consultant and Career Coach – they’ll do all they can to ensure you get the most out of the programme.
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to hone your commercial skills on real projects. You’ll be immersed in diverse business issues as you get involved in negotiating or drafting high value proposals and contracts. That will see you identifying risks, taking on bidding and business cases, and developing innovative and creative commercial solutions. You could be supporting internal engineering teams, navigating through complex intellectual property issues, handling financial modelling and pricing, or managing key strategic customers and suppliers. Working face-to-face with exceptionally diverse customers, partners and suppliers across the world, you’ll develop your expertise through on-the-job learning and first-class formal training.
We’re looking for results-driven and detail-orientated graduates with an innate talent for business – you’re ambitious, full of integrity and never afraid to make big decisions. We’ll also want to see negotiation and relationship management skills, together with the ability to earn trust and inspire respect. In terms of your academic background, you’ll either have or be on course to achieve a 2:1 degree, or an equivalent qualification. Crucially, you’ll have learned from a variety of life experiences, have broad life skills and know how to apply your common sense approach to everyday situations. This, together with a passion for the industry, proven business acumen, a demonstrated drive for results and a willingness to be globally mobile, will mark you out.
