Manufacturing Engineering Internship Programme

Designing world-leading power systems is one thing. Actually seeing them through to delivery is something else entirely. And that’s where our Manufacturing Engineering team comes in. Join our Manufacturing Engineering Internship Programme, and you’ll be helping us to deliver on our promises, and achieve the most exacting standards. At the same time, you’ll get an insight into Rolls-Royce, and what it takes to do well here. You’ll be working closely with our Manufacturing Engineers – the people who develop state-of-the-art processes, acquire new capabilities, factories and machinery, and put new products into production. You can expect to be given real responsibility and plenty of scope to make a positive contribution to our business. This is your chance to undertake work you can be truly proud of.

Life of a Rolls-Royce Employee

Rolls-Royce currently employs over 50,000 people in more than 40 countries around the world. And with our growing order book, those numbers are set to increase as well.

The programme

On our Manufacturing Engineering Internship Programme you’ll be assigned to one of our manufacturing facilities. Whether you’re working for us in aerospace, nuclear or marine, you can look forward to undertaking one or two major projects as a part of our talented team. You’ll be working in one or more of capability acquisition, product introduction or continuous improvement, so you’ll gain a real insight into how we work around the manufacturing lifecycle. Along the way, you’ll learn from some true experts and be taught valuable skills. And if you perform well, you may be invited to join our graduate programme – a fantastic start to a career with one of the world’s most prestigious global companies.

What you’ll do

The projects you undertake will vary depending on business need and where you are based. You could be part of a team improving a manufacturing process, or get involved in developing new technology to help introduce a new product into manufacture. You may also get the chance to work in central teams where you will help transform the way we undertake manufacturing engineering across all of our facilities. The opportunity to make an impact, and a good impression, is huge.

What you’ll need

We’re looking for people who’ll be happy to share their ideas about how we can do things even better, so we’ll want to see great communication skills developed through well-rounded life experience – academically, socially and in any previous work situations. Your pre-university academic record will be strong too, with A-levels (or equivalent) at grade B or above in Maths and Physics or Chemistry. You should also be on course to achieve at least a 2:1 MEng or MSc degree, or a minimum of 2:1 at bachelor’s degree level, or equivalent. Flexibility is important too, as you could be based at any of our sites.

What you’ll get

  • £17,850 pa (pro rata)
  • Bonus schemes
  • Financial assistance for additional study
  • A competitive pension
  • Leisure facilities and numerous sports societies
