Job Description
Our Test Facility at Whetstone, Leicestershire carries out testing of advanced electrical power systems, power conversion equipment and motors/generators for various applications. The testing is carried out on large scale equipment which uses various systems associated with the Facility infrastructure.
The testing is carried out using specialised test rigs which are frequently changed out or modified. The installation and/or adaptation of this equipment and it’s operation requires the application of mechanical engineering knowledge and skills.
Essential Responsibilities
The safe installation and alignment of the following:
large rotating machines
shaftlines
couplings
bearing and lubrication systems
heavy electrical equipment.
Assisting in the safe commissioning and operation of any system, plant or equipment as required by the Commissioning/Test Manager.
Carrying out the proper maintenance, storage, protection and use of any machinery or equipment associated with the MPTF Facility as directed by the Site Manager and/or the Site Engineering Team.
Previous experience of working in a safety conscious, practical, environment overseeing other Technicians is essential.
Qualifications/Requirements
Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Recognised Health and Safety training.
Previous experience within a Commissioning role or environment.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Self-Motivated, Dynamic.
Able to work on own initiative with minimal support in a customer facing environment. This is a highly demanding role frequently working under pressure.
Flexible attitude to working pattern is required.
Desired characteristics
Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience of Noise & Vibration Measurement
Valid Passport to Safety training certificate, IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate.
Overhead Crane License
