About Us

GE’s Power Conversion business, part of GE Vernova, provides electrification systems that are critical to customers’ power and energy needs for their high-performance applications. We work with some of the world’s major energy, maritime and industrial organisations, helping to enable a transition to energy efficiency and decarbonisation, including through our specialist motors, drives and control technologies.

About the Role

A one year in industry placement with us will give you a hands-on practical application of the theory from university. In the 12-month of the placement, you will gain invaluable skills and experience in covering different aspects of power systems engineering, power electronics engineering, manufacturing engineering or software development.

You will be guided and supported by your People Leader and team around you. We will make sure that you make the best of your experience at GE Power Conversion.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the role will depend on the team you go into, but all the roles will offer interested challenges and opportunities for growth and development. During your placement you will:

  • learn how to specify, design and document technical solutions
  • participate in the verification and validation testing of technical solutions and systems
  • develop communication skills to liaise with customers, suppliers, and sub-contractors
  • develop skills in project management and planning
  • learn how to apply engineering standards and how to develop design practices.

We are looking for undergraduates studying towards an Electrical, Mechanical or Software Engineering degree from an accredited university. The ideal candidate:

  • will have completed a minimum of 2 years of the undergraduate degree but will not have graduated at the start of the placement.
  • must be enrolled at a UK university for the duration of your placement.
  • will have a passion for learning

The placement will start in September 2025.
