Physical Security Systems Technician

Electrical, Physics, Systems.

Have you got what it takes for us to say ‘You’re Hired’?

You might be just starting out in the workforce or have recently decided on a career change. Our Physical Security and Electrical Engineering Technician is designed to equip you with all the training and experience you need at the start of your Security career.

Physical Security is essential to keep the lights on and the gas flowing; we need to protect our physical, corporate and digital assets to keep people warm and safe.

What we do | National Gas
We’re pleased to announce the official launch of National Gas as a separate entity from National Grid PLC.

Whilst completing your electrical engineering qualification, you’ll get the opportunity to gain competencies in a variety of physical security systems such as CCTV, Intruder Detection and Access Control Systems. You’ll be immersed within our Security team, collaborating with colleagues across all levels and learning from the best in the Security field and the Gas business.

You don’t need to have gained any previous electrical engineering experience; just a willingness to learn and try different things. A genuine interest in security and protecting Critical National Infrastructure is also key. You’ll be exposed to sensitive data, so it’s important that you maintain discretion in the workplace.

To apply for this role, you will need GCSE Maths and English at a Grade 5 or equivalent qualification such as Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English. Applicants with a degree, or those looking for a change of career are also encouraged to apply.

So, who are we?

National Gas Transmission is the backbone of Britain's energy system today and will play a leading role in the transition to a clean energy future that works for every home and business. We own and operate the national gas network, delivering energy to where it is needed in every part of the country.

If this sounds like the role for you, read on to apply.

What can you expect from us

We’re offering a salary of around £23,000 per annum, in line with the real living wage. You’ll get 26 days’ holiday per year, alongside the 8 statutory bank holidays, and the option to buy more. You’ll have access to a pension scheme where we double match your contribution (maximum Company contribution of 12%), as well as a flexible benefit scheme where you can opt into a whole host of lifestyle options. We warmly welcome applicants from all backgrounds; diversity, equity and inclusion is at the heart of our organisation.

Our main office is based in Warwick, which will be your main base for the duration of the Apprenticeship. We embrace hybrid-working. However, we have site locations and engineers based throughout the UK. This role requires frequent travel to a variety of sites, so a clean driving licence is essential.

The closing date will be Fri 21 June 2024, with interviews expected to take place immediately after at our office in Warwick. I would encourage you to apply as soon as possible, as due to the volume of applications we may close the advert sooner!

We've signed the Gradcracker feedback pledge.
