Account Overview

Amey and Trafford Council are working in partnership to deliver environmental and infrastructure services for Trafford. The new partnership, formed in 2015, delivers commercial and domestic waste collections, street cleaning, grounds maintenance, highways services, bridges, road safety, street lighting and furniture, drainage and property services. The partnership will maintain and improve nearly 800 km of roads, 17,000 km footways, 150 structures, 30,000 street columns and illuminated signs and 37 parks, in addition to collecting waste from 97,000 households for 15 years. Innovative, new technology will be introduced across the services to deliver a more efficient approach for the Council and the residents of Trafford. We are seeking to recruit a civil/structural engineering Graduates, to assist in the delivery of these exciting and challenging new projects.

You will be tasked with assisting the Amey Consulting team in its provision of civil/structural engineering design services as part of the partnership for both maintenance and new works schemes such as:

  • Trafford Highway Maintenance and Capital Work Schemes; highways, drainage, structures, traffic and transportation
  • Greater Manchester Cycle Challenge
  • Carrington Relief Road

You will be passionate about delivering engineering projects to the highest standards, while demonstrating strategic thinking, imagination and the ability to take on key responsibilities, when required.

What will the position involve?

  • The production of infrastructure designs, inspection work, feasibility studies, report preparation, cost estimating, Quality Assurance responsibilities
  • Assist with contract preparation
  • Preparing and assisting with drawing production
  • Assisting with the preparation of technical documentation and reports
  • Dealing with project related correspondence
  • Maintaining high technical standards, consistent with the project brief under direction from the Engineer
  • Assisting in project administration including supervision
  • Assisting with compliance to the relevant health, safety and environmental legislation, particularly the CDM Regulations
  • Maintaining a strong focused client relationship
  • Assisting with the implementation of effective, value for money and innovative design solutions.

  • 2.2 degree in relevant subject (Civil and/or Structural Engineering)
  • Computer literate including CAD
  • Commitment to studying towards professional qualification
  • Strong analytical, written, communication and presentation skills
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to embracing change
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
