Do you enjoy solving real-life problems and creating a positive impact on society? Do you want to work flexibly in a way that empowers you?

Here at Amey Consulting, you’ll have the unique opportunity to bring high-profile, ground-breaking infrastructure projects to life. Your design solutions will have impact, making a genuine difference to people’s lives, often in the very community where you live.

You’ll join a growing team of big thinkers who love finding solutions to difficult problems.  You’ll be stretched, but always supported, surrounded by people who want you to thrive and embrace new challenges, recognising your hard work and looking out for your wellbeing.

We’re proud of what we do, because we’re all given the freedom to perform and given the flexibility to work in a way that suits you - it’s what makes a career with us unlike any other.

Amey - what we do

Our team of 17,000 works across four continents – making us a leading supplier of consulting and infrastructure support services both in the UK and internationally.

Our Opportunity:

We are recruiting for our next cohort of Civil Engineering Degree Apprentices with exciting opportunities across several of our key locations; Birmingham, Bristol, Exeter, Kettering, Liverpool, Nottingham, Stafford, Swindon, Telford and Winchester.

Our exciting five-year programme allows you to gain real “on the job” experience, working on live high-profile projects such as the UK’s first carbon neutral road improvement project – an £8m National Highways carriageway reconstruction in Cumbria, whilst studying towards a BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering Degree.

Your Degree Apprenticeship course will be delivered via day release throughout the duration of your programme with one of the UK’s leading Universities, local to you in either the North West, Midlands or South of England, who specialise in Civil Engineering Degree Courses.

As part of our growing Highways team, you’ll collaborate and engage with your colleagues and industry experts, delivering projects through a flexible combination of home and office-based working, tailored to you, as part of your personal development plan.

Our dedicated Highways teams impact the journeys of millions across the UK, by working in partnership with a range of clients and providing consultancy design services for Strategic and Local Highway networks and we take enormous pride in seeing our towns and cities thrive by improving connectivity, journey times and quality of life.

Our teams work on both major design projects and local network improvements and undertake services on national to local frameworks; including those with Highways England Area 10,13 and 14 to the A66 dualling programme and the Midlands Highways Alliance (MHA).

We’re passionate about the highways projects that we design and our multidisciplinary teams encompass all aspects of investigation, design and construction of roads, bridges, cycle and pedestrian paths as well as civil structures, and street lighting.

What will you bring:

One of the best things about an Apprenticeship with us is that you don’t need to have experience of working in engineering or the Highways industry. However, we do hope that you’ll share our passion for these and demonstrate your desire to develop yourself within this exciting area.

We offer a fantastic opportunity to help you take those initial steps in your career and our fabulous Civil Engineering Degree Apprenticeship programme course provides you with invaluable time to study and network with your peers. We see this as a valuable part of your learning so travel and any accommodation costs at your University are also covered by us.

Qualification requirements 112 UCAS Points gained via either:

  • 3 A-Levels (or equivalent) Grade A*-C. Must include Maths and a Science
  • OR, Successful completion of a Level 3 Apprenticeship/BTEC Diploma (in Civil Engineering) to D*D* level
  • Available to join our programme in early September 2022
  • Passion for developing your skills both professional and personally
