Job description

We are recruiting Commercial Graduates who are proactive, passionate, analytical and forward thinking with a questioning mind and business awareness to join QinetiQ’s Commercial team.

QinetiQ’s Commercial Graduates will focus on four main objectives: Contract Drafting, Development and Management, Deal Structuring and Negotiation, and Managing Relationships. You will be in a position to make a real difference in the operational success of our business, and shall work to accrue a broad commercial skill base from which to launch your career.

By joining the Commercial team you will support the agreement of successful deals; ensure that contracts are managed professionally and profitably as well as giving you exposure to new business initiatives. Successful members of this team enjoy the detail of contract documents while also understanding the bigger picture of the deal, its business implications and risks.

QinetiQ’s Commercial Graduates will…

  • Be immersed into the team for a true hands-on experience
  • Learn to put their commercial judgement and creativity to use to help find new and innovative ways to do business
  • Help to maintain profits and minimise risk at every stage of the business lifecycle
  • Have regular exposure to different functions including Legal Services, Procurement, Finance and Operations
  • Have regular exposure to many different parts of the business across all main business divisions; Air and Space; Cyber, Information and Training; Maritime, Land and Weapons and International.

We offer a comprehensive graduate programme where you will receive first class training and support whilst working alongside experienced Commercial Managers. No day is the same when you work here. You will be exposed to a diverse range of projects from the start so that you are able to make a positive impact to the business. You will utilise the experience and knowledge of the Commercial team to deliver real value.

You will be encouraged and supported in studying for an accredited qualification from the International Association for Contract & Commercial Management (IACCM), who are the internationally recognised body for Commercial Management. This will form part of the practical training programme that you will undertake.

Location

You will be based at one of our main offices in Boscombe Down, Farnborough or Malvern complete with parking, coffee shop, deli, restaurant and gymnasium. You will have the opportunity to travel to and work at some of our other UK sites during your graduate programme, in order to get a good understanding of the business.

Requirements

We look for graduates who are proactive, passionate, analytical and forward thinking with a questioning mind and commercial instinct. You will be expected to:

  • Undertake technical tasks across a number of projects
  • Build relevant domain knowledge of your particular technical area
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the range of capabilities of the group and the wider Division
  • Build on understanding the customers from the group, to grow your role and support succession planning
  • Support the business demands of the group.

You will:

  • Have gained, or be expected to gain a credible STEM degree
  • Have a strong pre-university academic report
  • Be a keen and strong problem solver with a good eye for detail
  • Be an excellent communicator and team player with a track record of establishing effective relationships with others.

The role will require the holder to be able to obtain full security clearance. To gain clearance you will normally have had to have been a resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years, regardless of nationality.
