We are a team of suitably qualified and experienced personnel (SQEP) that provides engineering support, predominantly to QinetiQ’s Air & Space and Maritime, Land & Weapons business units. Our people support business winning opportunities and the delivery of quality, on-time products to our customers. Our primary customer is the UK MoD but we also deliver civil work and defence work for a number of international customers.

Our Aerospace Engineering teams primarily deliver Test & Evaluation (T&E) of manned and unmanned helicopters and fixed wing aircraft. Most of our work involves conducting hazard-focussed evaluation and assessing functional performance/fitness for purpose of new aircraft or modifications to aircraft. We are focussed on delivering mission critical capability to our customers. Evaluation is based on different forms of evidence that may include modelling and simulation, previous evaluations, simulator assessments and previous flight test evidence. If there is insufficient evidence available, our teams participate in or lead practical on-board assessments or flight test programmes.

QinetiQ is a company of over 6,000 people dedicated to being on the side of their customers.

We also support course design and provide instructors to the Empire Test Pilot’s School that is based at Boscombe Down.

Sites & roles:

Flight Physics

The Flight Physics team assesses aircraft performance and flying qualities and has a thorough understanding of the Flight Control System and Air Data System. They provide flight envelope limitations. The team has specific expertise on Ship-Air Integration capability supporting safe operations of aircraft from ships.

The team is based at Boscombe Down, Brize Norton & Warton.

Flight Systems

The Flight Systems team assesses a wide variety of systems including Fuel, Flying Controls, Integrated Electrical Power and Propulsion Systems Integration. The team has specific expertise on Aerial Delivery, Aging Aircraft Audits and Aircraft Icing.

Mission Systems

The Mission Systems team conducts work on broad array of systems including Avionics, Communications, Defensive Aids, Controls/ Cockpit Displays, Flight Management, Identification, Mission computing / Management, Navigation, Optronics, Radar and Weapons Integration Systems

The team is based at Boscombe Down, Brize Norton, Waddington, Coningsby & Warton.

Individuals should be passionate about aviation. We require individuals that can be trained to lead the execution of ground-based and airborne test activities. We also need individuals that can be trained to do effective evaluation of complicated engineering systems.

Required:

Achieved or on track to achieve a bachelor’s degree or higher degree in a STEM related discipline.
