Job description/Person specification:

QinetiQ are seeking to appoint a Senior Project Manager to work within our Advanced Services and Products Business (AS&P), with responsibility for leadership of delivery of projects and bids for both MOD and Commercial Customers. AS&P also manages a portfolio of internal investment projects and collaborations with academia.

Key Accountabilities:

Accountable the Programme Manager for: developing compelling value for money propositions in response to assigned customer requirements and leading their closure to contract. Responsible for the delivery of projects safely; within agreed budgets and schedule; ensuring compliance all applicable International & National Regulations and Standards, meeting targets set by the business for agreed milestone delivery performance, customer satisfaction score, financial forecast variances and delivery margins.

Successful outcomes of this role:

  • Managing a portfolio of projects, reconciling conflicting requirements to optimise the resources, maximise turnover & profit whilst achieving customer acceptance on time, first time.
  • Managing internal stakeholders in a matrix organisation
  • Managing a wide disparate group of external Stakeholders.

Person Specification

Essential Education/Qualifications and Training:

  • Graduate in Engineering, Business or Project Management Discipline or with demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • APMPQ or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Able to hold and maintain a UK MOD SC Clearance

Essential Knowledge, Skills/Experience:

  • Good understanding of the Association for Project Management Body of Knowledge (APM BoK) and at least 3 years’ experience in its application and able to apply it in design, delivery and support environment.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of the APM competencies
  • The ability to assimilate and re-communicate technical content..

Essential Personal Qualities/Behavioural Requirements:

  • Excellent communication, negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Leadership and the ability to influence outcomes in QinetiQ's favour.
  • Excellent collaboration skills able to work with multiple external stakeholders as well as internal stakeholders in a matrix organisation.
  • Proactive with the enthusiasm, drive and initiative necessary to maintain the lead over the competition and maximise QinetiQ growth.

Desirable Criteria:

  • MAPM or membership equivalent professional body, with a demonstrable track record of Continuous Professional Development are highly desirable.
  • PRINCE2 Practitioner is desirable.
  • MSP Practitioner is desirable.
