Structural Analysis, Integrity and Non-destructive testing team is based in Rosyth as part of Maritime, Land and Weapons division. We are a multi-disciplinary structural engineers including subject matter experts in delivering critical test and evaluation of complex maritime structures.

What will I be doing?

  • You will undertake a variety of tasks, ensuring technical solutions meet business and customer requirements.
  • The primary scope a graduate placement role is focused on application of bespoke in house and commercial software packages and working closely within Structural Integrity team focusing on materials test and validation.
  • You will also work alongside engineers to deliver testing of submarine and surface ship structures, assessing their performance within the demanding environments that platforms will be subjected to throughout their operational life.
  • In Addition you will also support other team members of the team in the field of Structural Analysis and Non-Destructive testing.

Academic requirements:

You will need to have obtained a Master’s degree with a key focus on the discipline listed below:

  • Materials science and/or metallurgy
  • Fatigue and Fracture
  • Non-Destructive testing
  • Structural Integrity

Additional requirements:

  • Have a strong interest and/or experience with Material science and Metallurgy.
  • Passionate about maritime structures.
  • Providing engineering critical solutions to customer’s problems.
  • Good report writing and presentation skills.
  • Please be aware that many roles within QinetiQ will be subject to both security and export control restrictions. These restrictions mean that factors including your nationality, any previous nationalities you have held, and your place of birth may limit those roles you can perform for the organisation.
  • You must be prepared to go through the Government Vetting process.
