Air Traffic Management (Mission Systems 5):

QinetiQ’s Mission System 5 team includes expertise in Air Traffic Management systems, including airborne and ground based collision avoidance and radar data processing. QinetiQ is in the process of acquiring  a new equipment which will allow us to monitor and analyse the radar environment across a wide area, and by next summer we will be wanting to gain a better understanding of what the new equipment does, and what types of analyses could be achieved.

What will I be doing?

  • The primary scope of the role will focused on understanding the capabilities of newly acquired Air Traffic Management (ATM) data recording tools/analysis.
  • You may also be involved in other tasks, such as data analysis to support work in the area of collision avoidance – either ground based or airborne safety systems.
  • You may be required to produce bespoke tools in Matlab.
  • You will be directed and mentored by subject matter experts.

Academic requirements:

You will need to have obtained or be working towards a degree with a key focus on any of the disciplines listed below:

  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Engineering
  • Computer Science

Additional requirements:

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a curiosity and interest in learning new things;
  • Have a good level of competency in logic and maths;
  • Be adaptable, and have the ability to work as part of a small team.
  • Please be aware that many roles within QinetiQ will be subject to both security and export control restrictions. These restrictions mean that factors including your nationality, any previous nationalities you have held, and your place of birth may limit those roles you can perform for the organisation.
