With over £9 billion spent each year and over 32,000 suppliers, the need for skilled procurement professionals is imperative for our business. Put simply, we need to ensure that we deliver the right products, at the right time, at the right cost to the required quality. As a key member of our team, you'll help us deliver just that. Your role will be very varied; ranging from undertaking supplier visits to a more analytical focus of developing procurement strategies. You'll also be offered challenging placements of both an operational and strategic nature, getting involved in the supply of essential services, materials, components and high-value equipment for a variety of programmes, such as the F35 Lightning II or the Astute Class submarine. To succeed in this area, you’ll need to have a minimum 2:1 Bachelor's degree for our graduate scheme or on track for achieving a 2:1 for our undergraduate schemes. Please refer to each business unit listed below for accepted degree subjects. You must also be eligible to work in the UK and be able to successfully achieve security clearance.
As for personal qualities, you’ll need to have strong communication skills enabling you to build and manage effective relationships. Negotiation is also key, with the ability to influence customers, stakeholders and suppliers to ensure optimum performance throughout a product’s project lifecycle. Electronic Systems: You'll be joining our team and leveraging the expertise of 13,000 people around the world as we develop mission-critical electronic systems for a whole range of commercial and military purposes. This includes everything from flight and engine controls, surveillance and reconnaissance sensors, to electronic warfare and night visions systems. Preferred degree(s) include; any degree along with an interest in Business Studies, Procurement.
Maritime Services: As a Procurement graduate, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a broad range of projects and be encouraged to experience different areas of the business to give you a wider appreciation of the business and its long-term objectives. Based in Portsmouth, you'll be joining the team that delivers end-to-end maritime services — including warship availability, facilities management, training and ongoing support for radar, torpedoes and small boats. Military Air and Information: Our team designs, manufactures and supports some of the most advanced military aircraft in the world. As well as working with the UK's Ministry of Defence, we supply products and support services to customers in over 30 countries across the globe. If you’re passionate about delivering excellence and are ready to use your skills to support some of the world’s most significant aerospace sector organisations, this is the place for you. Submarines: BAE Systems Submarines is contracted to work on some of the largest and most ambitious engineering projects in the world. You could join more than 8,000 people across several UK sites, as part of a team that's proud to have designed and built every submarine currently in service with the UK Royal Navy. Preferred degree(s) include; Business, Business Management or related.
Available in Submarines - Barrow-in-Furness and Naval Ships - Glasgow, this is our two year graduate scheme, which develops people who are passionate about and show great potential in their chosen field. Through a mix of study and on-the-job training in multiple placements, you’ll steadily acquire the skills and experience needed to become a Procurement Professional, with a starting salary of £28,000.
