Project Management is an integral function within BAE Systems. An effective Project Manager is able to deliver on contractual requirements to time, cost and quality constraints whilst managing the customer’s expectation throughout the life of a project. By successfully managing these elements, a Project Manager can directly contribute to customer satisfaction, return shareholder value and help secure future business.
Maritime Services offer a wide range of fulfilling placements for PM Graduates across the 2 Project Portfolio areas namely (1) Warship Support which includes running Portsmouth Naval Base and maintaining half the RN Surface Fleet including the T45 Destroyers & the Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers. (2) Product & Training Services - developing/supporting Torpedoes, Radars, Small Boats and Training Simulation Systems. The placements can be in any part of a project’s life-cycle from bidding to project execution to closing a project. Daily tasks vary from day to day and can include planning/scheduling project tasks, collecting/controlling project costs, updating PM plans, bringing innovation to established processes, working with the RN customers, running your own small projects and even organising a UK PM conference.
To apply, you’ll need to be on course for achieving a 2:2 Bachelor’s degree in any STEM subject.

Ability to communicate with people at all levels. Someone of integrity, full of enthusiasm, shows empathy for others, competent, good delegation skills, cool under pressure, a problem solver and a team player. Many people with numerate & non-numerate degrees have proved they can become effective Project Managers. Maritime Services delivers end-to-end services and support to over half of the Royal Navy’s Surface Fleet. Our training services ensure personnel are capable and ready for maritime action and our products add operational advantage to our UK and international customers, this includes radar, torpedoes and small boats, as well as electronics being used in the new F35 Lightning B aircraft. Our work on complex technologies is used to support defence activities across the globe.
We have sites in Portsmouth, Cowes on the Isle of Wight, Filton near Bristol, Great Baddow in Chelmsford, and Hillend in Scotland
