BAE Systems Air Sector operates across the globe, in multiple markets to support customers wherever, whenever and whatever their challenges may be. We operate in multiple markets to support our customers – from design, development and production, through to provision of aircraft, training, support and maintenance. To achieve this, we collaborate with partners large and small, from within and beyond the defence sector, and from the UK and around the world.

The role of Quality Engineer covers multiple Quality disciplines, such as Quality Control, In-service support, Supply Chain and Software Quality to give a breadth of experience.

Quality Engineers come from various backgrounds including maintenance, project management, manufacturing, educational, and engineering bringing diverse approaches driving efficiency and effectiveness in everything we do.

Quality Engineers are responsible for working with multiple functions, across various life cycle phases driving business improvement activities whilst ensuring system and functional requirements are met. They gain skills and knowledge in areas such as Quality performance management, tools and techniques, validation and verification, non-conformance management and change management.

What you will be doing

A Quality Engineer will undertake a broad range of tasks that allow them to develop knowledge of the business, lifecycle phases, supply chain, product and customers as well as an understanding of the multi-disciplinary inputs.

The role will be in a range of environments, facing different types of pressures and customers. Tasks involved could include:

  • Quality assurance and control activities
  • Managing and performing internal product, process and system audits
  • Supporting third party, customer, supplier and regulatory approval visits
  • Performing first article verifications and factory acceptance tests relating to new and updated equipment
  • Providing product certification and release documentation
  • Managing quality issues through investigation, root cause analysis, corrective action and verification with the
  • customer, internally or within the supply chain
  • Managing system deployment and maintenance including policy, process and performance management.

Entry Requirements and what we are looking for

  • Predicted or obtained 2:2 degree in any STEM subject
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Passion and enthusiasm to develop as an individual and a professional.
  • Effective communication skills, and the ability to work well in a diverse team.
  • A willingness to learn and gain increased understanding of the business and its customers.
