Combining my knowledge attained from a BEng in Civil Engineering at the University of Warwick and an MSc in Offshore & Ocean Technology with Subsea Engineering at Cranfield University, I have been pursuing my dream of working in the oil and gas industry with Aquaterra Energy.
Having joined the company, I was placed into a graduate programme with a rotational 12 months followed by another 12 months in my chosen rotation. The rotation covered different segments of the business. It equipped me with a powerful set of skills and broad understanding for when I moved into a project orientated role. I have now been a Project Engineer in the Riser Projects department for over a year and I have enjoyed every bit of it. Working in the Riser Projects department you are exposed to the full project lifecycle which brings opportunities to travel offshore and work abroad. Every project is different and has challenges to keep you on your feet.
Working in a small/medium sized company has many perks - my favourite being that all the departments are in close proximity to one another and you can build good relationships with your peers. Norwich is a lovely city that is surrounded by beautiful countryside and not far for the country’s best beaches. Aquaterra Energy is supportive in allowing engineers to pursue any reputable engineering chartership body and this is great for my professional development. It is a pleasure to work with a rapidly-growing company.
