DNV is looking for a highly motivated, innovative, reliable, and proactive student to join our UK Project controller team, here in Loughborough.

As a placement student, you will have you the opportunity to get wide exposure across businesses in all types of roles, making a real contribution to our work. You will have a chance to work with people in different departments - procurement, contracts, finance, and the technical teams. You will be placed in a team where you’ll be surrounded by experts who are willing to support and encourage you, enabling you to develop valuable skills that will help you succeed in your future career. You will see many aspects of the commercial side of projects and have an opportunity to work with a variety of topics across the business.

Humanising Energy: The evolution of home energy

Hydrogen in homes. DNV is trialling the use of hydrogen as a home energy source.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all new projects are set up correctly with correct financial data and contract documentation in the CRM system and transferred into the relevant financial system
  • Analyse and develop solutions to track and improve milestone delivery of projects
  • Ensure all change requests are handled in an appropriate way
  • Generate invoices for all external and internal projects within deadlines
  • Financial analysis of projects
  • Handle monthly project review meetings with unit managers
  • Follow up monthly on Accounts Receivables to assist in achieving KPI
  • Assist employees or customers by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, projects, and services
  • Projects set up on Oracle – for both external clients and ongoing framework contracts
  • Use Oracle and other Business tools to analyse and disseminate project financial information to the wider business
  • Monitor cost/revenue plans and update in line with project requirements via regular portfolio meetings
  • Identify and resolve potential project overspends to mitigate the financial impact on the project
  • Compliance with ongoing framework contracts in line with agreed contract management procedures
  • Regular & ad hoc reporting to the Head of Section / Team leads on all aspects of project coordination/ management activity in support of ongoing contracts and projects
  • Ad-hoc support across the team on specific process analysis

Requirements:

  • Proactive approach and anticipating what may be needed
  • Strong communication and listening skills with attention to details
  • Strong organisational awareness, knowing who to go to or how to get information
  • Organised and disciplined and can prioritise as dictated by the business
  • Building strong relationships across teams including the ability to challenge project delivery timescales and costs
  • The post holder must be articulate, diplomatic, remaining calm under pressure from possibly conflicting sources
  • Able to communicate effectively in oral and written form
  • Team worker but with a capability to work alone with a minimum of guidance
  • Conscientious, with a focus on quality
