Thales in Glasgow is a world leader in the design and manufacture of optronics products for the worldwide defence, aerospace and security markets. Products include thermal imaging cameras, laser rangefinders / designators, submarine periscopes / optronics masts, missile warning systems and airborne reconnaissance systems. At the core of these products is electro-optics (EO) technology consisting of cameras, detectors and optics. The innovative application of existing and new EO technologies (eg Quantum) is central to the current and future success of Thales in Glasgow.
A vacancy has arisen for a Chief Electro-Optical Technologist, reporting directly to the Technical Director, to provide strategic leadership of our electro-optics technology. The role includes working one day per week (typically) at the University of Glasgow, for which an Honorary Professorship in electro-optics is available. For this role, you should be willing to be based in Glasgow and relocation assistance is available if required.
The role will be of interest to EO technologists already working at a strategic level in an organisation or to engineers with a strong EO background and the passion to take on larger strategic responsibilities in the EO domain.
In line with Thales' Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and/or education history for up to three years.
