The role:

Thales UK has a fantastic opportunity for an individual to join our Avionics (AVS) team as a Civil Range Manager at Crawley. Through Life Support Engineering (TLSE) is a holistic life cycle process combining logistical and engineering actions to assure effective economical through-life support of a system or capability. Service Operations consolidates it’s Through Life Support approach to help the business units respond to the changing customer requirements and Field Services Engineering is part of the cross-domain Services Operations in Crawley which is where this role is positioned.

As the Civil Range Manager, the post holder will be responsible for managing assets for the Avionics Civil Portfolio within an allocated range through the Supply Chain organisation in order to meet the logistic performance criteria of Projects. The Range Manager will form part of the AVS Civil Avionics Management team based at Crawley; operationally responsible to the Civil Services Programme Manager.

Key Duties:

Duties will include but will not be limited to:

  • Responsibility for the end to end delivery process associated with both new build Satcom production, service centre repairs and spares order book commitments for a portfolio of projects (TFS / MCS / ACGC).
  • Manage and maintain an Asset Tracking inventory of the assigned assets to meet performance, availability, quality and delivery requirements.
  • Working with the commercial team, ensure the customer order acceptance process is managed efficiently by ensuring SATCOM / ACGC stock levels, configuration of stock is well controlled and understood in order to ensure delivery lead time acceptance with the customer is achievable for both new build production and repairs.
  • Working with the designated Subcontract Management/buyer teams, ensure the supply chain is operating and delivering the level of service required in order to achieve delivery of required SATCOM/ ACGC stock in accordance with the Civil Satcom / ACGC order book demands.
  • Act as a central point of contact between the Programme management team, commercial, ACO, Subcontract Management, Export, QA & stores (all shipping process stakeholders),the Service centre and production teams for all issues relating to the assigned assets and their movement within the service Centre/production line in order to meet the Civil Satcom / ACGC order book commitments.
  • Liaise with technical support personnel to ensure complementary asset management and technical support responses to the customer are achieved.
  • Report compliance to Project requirements/Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Identify and manage risks and opportunities to Project Management.

  • Experience or formal qualifications in Supply Chain Management/logistics background would be desirable.
  • In-depth experience in customer support desirable.
  • Desired detailed knowledge of the subject and is capable of providing guidance and advise to others.
  • IT Literate, particularly Microsoft Packages and Excel.
  • Positive attitude with eye for detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
