Thales UK has a fantastic opportunity to recruit a Line Maintenance Technician to join our Avionics team, providing opportunity to develop and work with some of the world’s most advanced technologies, based at London Heathrow Airport.

This is a fixed-term contract opportunity until February 2020 with potential of extension and continuation into a permanent role in the future. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to develop their skills and expertise in electronic and system maintenance, working for world leading organisation providing in-flight entertainment services to over 1 million users worldwide a day.

The Role:

The role will require you to work with and manage both daily scheduled and unscheduled maintenance events for Aircraft equipped with Thales In-Flight entertainment systems. You will coordinated with Airline and Thales personnel to ensure all maintenance issues are resolved to the highest levels of customer satisfaction; you will work as part of a team of other Technicians and Licensed Engineers who service and maintain the extensive Thales fleet at London Heathrow Airport.

The team operates shift cycles providing 24 hour, 7 day a week, 365 day per year coverage with a shift rota of 4-on-4-off 12 hour shifts .

Key responsibilities include:

  • Liaise with Airline / Thales planning teams to establish if an in-flight event has occurred.
  • Help Aircraft technicians to prioritise the daily workload
  • Meet, greet and dispatch aircraft whilst on shift.
  • Implement processes for identifying accurate material/spares requirements and quantities to support aircraft maintenance.
  • Carry out maintenance activities on aircraft in accordance with approved documentation.
  • Support the technical team in capturing and investigating issues seen in service
  • Co-ordinate daily maintenance activities to ensure accurate planned and unplanned tasks for all aircraft fitted with Thales IFE system.
  • Ensure the escalation of technical issues from to the Thales and airline Technical Support group and other teams where necessary to resolve aircraft maintenance issues.
  • Input maintenance information into the Electronic Information Database (to ensure issues and requirements are captured, documented, and are available for review and distribution in a timely manner.

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience in aviation line maintenance operations
  • Working towards Pt 66 License is desirable
  • BTEC, NVQ or City & Guilds desirable
  • High level of computer competency
  • Excellent verbal and written technical communication
  • Clean driving license.
