An opportunity is available within the RF (Radio frequency) Product Validation Team, Airbus Defence and Space, Portsmouth. This team is responsible for the design of RF test systems, including the development of leading edge microwave measurement methods. The team is multi-functional and is typically responsible for the end-to-end life cycle of test systems from design, to in-service manufacturing support. The team comprises experienced Hardware and Software Engineers, who are keen to train the next generation.

As part of this degree apprenticeship, you will be studying towards achieving a BSc Electronic Engineering.
What you will be doing:
Working within product engineering teams to design, build and implement test solutions to the challenges faced in the Communication Product Group;
Understanding and carrying out complex technical tasks, developing and working towards solid design in order to produce world-leading test systems;
Be actively involved in design reviews, demonstrating your ability to communicate and work as part of a team with colleagues/customers;
Be involved in and eventually lead test system design;
Produce detailed technical documents to accompany engineering designs;
Will have placements in other teams, to ensure that you have a rounded engineering knowledge at the completion of your apprenticeship.
This role may involve some travel to other UK Airbus D&S sites.
Requirements:
In order to be eligible for this exciting apprenticeship opportunity you have:
3 A Levels at grade C or above in a Science, Technology, Engineering or additional Mathematics related subject
AND
5 GCSE's at Grade C or above, including Mathematics, English Language and a Science, Technology or Engineering related subject
Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:
The ability to work well in a team, as well as focus on your own self development;
Good communication skills;
Practically minded and proactive;
Interest in Manufacturing and Engineering;
Aptitude and understanding of mechanical principles;
To be a successful candidate you need to:

Important Information:
GRADES: If you are on predicted grades, your offer will be conditional to achieving the required grades before the apprenticeship start date.
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance OR You will be subject to a BPSS check (including a criminal record check).
