Production control is at the heart of this interacting with all other departments, from design to procurement, shop floor operators to management ensuring that the schedules are accurate and achievable, that all of the parts are at the right place at the right time and all risks and opportunities highlighted.

We are looking for someone enthusiastic, with excellent problem-solving, time management & analytical skills. There are a number of challenges within production control to resolve, such as shortages of parts, lack of labour and delivery slips.

What will you be doing? 

During this placement in Production Control, the activities you may undertake include;

  • Analyse the production status.
  • Control resource capacity (technicians, engineers and support functions & machinery, equipment and material).
  • Production Scheduling, identifying impacts on capacity requirements (workforce/machines/strategic tooling/jigs), delivery dates, float / contingency and supply chain lead times, proposing recovery actions or plans if necessary.
  • Prepare and participate or lead the Weekly Master Production meetings involving all the stakeholders.
  • Obtain the commitments of our production teams and challenge attendees to achieve scheduled work.
  • Validate and confirm short term planning and/or impact on Industrial System (5M).
  • Build, update and analyse KPIs measuring production plan execution and deliveries with a view to defining improvement plans and associated actions.
  • Implement the validated Production Schedule decided in the weekly MPS routines into production system.
  • Gives authorisation to manufacture by converting and releasing work orders according to weekly Master Production Schedule (MPS) meeting decisions.
  • Cross check Production Progress vs Schedule and MRP data.
  • Update planning and scheduling tools with dedicated stakeholders and inputs.

Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. 

As the successful candidate, you must be able to demonstrate the following;

  • Studying for a STEM degree, preferably, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Engineering, Engineering Management, or related fields.
  • IT and numerical skills.
  • Good communication with stakeholders from different levels, and the ability to influence.
  • Organisational and Problem solving skills.
  • Team working.
